Cheat On Your Diet to Burn Belly Fat
68Is it possible to cheat on your diet and still burn belly fat? Somehow it just doesn't seem right. After all that is what probably got you in trouble in the first place. You have been on diets in the past and didn't have any problem cheating on them at all and yet here you are once again looking for the answers to burn away the fat that has somehow lodged around your midsection. So how is it that cheating on my current diet is going to turn out differently?
Strategic Cheating on Your Diet for Fat Loss
Well, let's take that question in two parts. First it depends on what kind of diet you are on. And secondly, it depends on how you cheat on your diet.
Not all diets are created equally. If your concept of dieting is drastically cutting your calorie intake then we are not talking about the same type of diet. You should never starve yourself while on a diet. Starving yourself will cause certain hormones to react in a way that will not be very helpful to your goal of losing weight.
There is one particular hormone that directly impacts your ability to burn fat. It is called leptin. The more leptin that you have in your system the better. In other words, the more leptin you have the better you are able to burn fat. However, restrictive dieting will decrease your leptin levels and make it more difficult for you to burn fat. In fact, studies have been done that show after only one week of restrictive dieting that your leptin levels can decrease by up to 50%. This would mean that your diet that you thought was geared to helping your burn fat was in fact the very thing that was hindering your ability to burn belly fat.
It has been found that, however, that one cheat day can restore your leptin levels to their original state. This is what I mean by cheating on your diet. It does not mean grabbing handfuls of M & M's each and every day. It does not mean cheating each day on your diet. It means eating clean all week but having on cheat day every week or so that will reset your leptin levels. This is an all day cheat and not just a cheat meal. Eat whatever you want that day (pizza, french fries, burgers, ice cream, etc). Just don't eat till you are uncomfortable; eat till you are full. This will crank up the leptin and reset your fat burning power again.
