Many of the people who write on Hubpages do so to try to earn a little bit of income. They realize they are not going to retire on the amount of money that they make from writing but they hope to add a few hundred dollars per month ultimately. If you read the those who have been successful at producing an income online (or anywhere for that matter) they will tell you that there is one ingredient that is more important than any other: massive action.

I think the same is true of weight loss or fat loss. Too many people are spending way too much time out there looking around for a magic formula when the truth of the matter is what you need to do is take massive action.

What Does Massive Action for Weight Loss Look Like

Massive action for fat loss needs to be taken in two very specific areas. The first is in the arena of your diet. To put it very simply, your diet will be the number one factor in whether you are successful in losing weight. All other factors play a supporting role.

You need to change the way that you eat. If you are 20 or more pounds overweight you do not need to look any further than you diet for the number one villain. If you are serious about your health and about correcting health problems that come along with being overweight then I would make the following changes today.

Get Rid of Junk Food

Get rid of the junk food in your house. You will survive just fine without potato chips, ice cream, Little Debbies, etc. These foods are packed with sugar or fat or both. Eating them is purposely sabotaging your diet. Substitute the junk food that you normally eat with a piece of fruit. It is a much healthier choice.

Eliminate Sugar

Eliminate as much sugar and refined flour from you diet as possible. Get rid of the sugary drinks and substitute it with water. I was weaned on sweet ice tea and I absolutely love it. However, I had to make a choice to enjoy ice tea without the sugar. That alone saves me a number of needless calories each day. Instead of eating white bread, switch to whole grain.

Eat Your Veggies

Pile the veggies on to your plate. You need to learn to eat healthier. Your body needs the nutrients and vitamins provided by vegetables. If you are not getting them you are doing yourself a disservice. If you are inclined to do so, grow your own garden. It will save you a little money, give you a diversion from your daily activities and provide you with a never ending supply of veggies during the summer.

Drink Water

Drink as much water as possible. I know that this may sound weird but try to drink a gallon of water each day. It may seem like a lot but if you space it out you can easily get it done. Not only does it flush your system out and keep you hydrated but it also gives you a feeling of fullness and helps keep you away from foraging through your kitchen late at night.

Eat Lean Meat

Eat lean sources of protein. Make sure that chicken, turkey, egg whites and lean beef make up a good portion of your protein intake. Stay away from the burgers.

Massive Exercise

The second area of massive action is exercise. You need to exercise. You need to increase your metabolism. You need activity. Please don't think that going to the gym for 45 minutes and spending 30 minutes of eat wandering around talking to people is going to get the job done. Massive action means get to work. Either go into your home gym or one that you pay a monthly fee for and get busy. I have idea on what you should do but it is more important that you just take action. Hit the weights, hit the treadmill, jump rope, jog in place, etc. I don't care what you do at the beginning just get started. Do something. Make sure that your heart rate stays elevated while you work out. You workouts should not be simple. If you leave the gym and you haven't broken a sweat and you don't feel like you have worked then turn around and go back inside. Don't cheat yourself. Commit to it and accomplish it. You can do it.

If you take massive action in these two areas you will begin to see success. That success will motivate you to continue. When you are starting to have success you can then begin to get a little more specific with what works better for you. You can refine your diet and your workout. But for now just get started.
